Visit Outline
On
arrival at the farm you will be met by Church Farm
staff who will show you the location of toilets,
hand-washing facilities etc. There will be a brief
introduction where an outline of the visit will
be given with an emphasis on farm hygiene and safety.
The
format of the visit involves a variety of workstations
scattered around the farm. At each station there
will be a mathematical / mapping problem based on
the surrounding items. Working in groups the children
make their way around the trail completing worksheets.
The
topics covered include fractions, percentages, simple
algebra, angles, scales, maps, pie charts and scales.
Before
this visit we always recommend a teacher visit to
the farm so you can choose the worksheets you deem
appropriate to achieve the learning objectives you
have in mind. |
