We grow famous Church Farm organic asparagus right here on the farm.

You're probably wondering what makes Church Farm organic asparagus so tasty, so let me explain.

  • Our stems are grown in premium organic certified soil so you know you're getting the finest nature can produce.
  • We harvest the stems around every other day depending on the rate of growth. Stems cut in the morning are on sale in the afternoon so it's the freshest you can get.
  • Stems are all sorted, bagged and graded by hand to ensure you get the best quality product available.

Buying Asparagus

The fresher the asparagus the better the taste. Sugars within the stems begin to break down so it is best eaten within a day or two of harvest.

Asparagus can still look ok when it's a week old, but the quality of taste will be completely different. The asparagus season is only 8 weeks long so get the best while you can.

Storing Asparagus

Keep fresh organic asparagus cold to preserve its’ tenderness and as much of its’ natural sweetness as possible. Keep the spears in their plastic bag and store in the coldest part of the refrigerator. It's best to eat asparagus the day you buy it as the flavour can diminish noticeably with each passing day, but it will keep for four to five days if refrigerated.
