Buying
Asparagus
The
fresher the asparagus the better the taste.
Sugars within the stems begin to break down
so it is best eaten within a day or two of
harvest.
Asparagus
can still look ok when it's a week old, but
the quality of taste will be completely different.
The asparagus season is only 8 weeks long
so get the best while you can.
Storing
Asparagus
Keep
fresh organic asparagus cold to preserve its’
tenderness and as much of its’ natural
sweetness as possible. Keep the spears in
their plastic bag and store in the coldest
part of the refrigerator. It's best to eat
asparagus the day you buy it as the flavour
can diminish noticeably with each passing
day, but it will keep for four to five days
if refrigerated.
